Toobeah, with its lovely gum trees growing either side of the highway, is just 49 kilometres west of Goondiwindi. This little town, set amid the cotton and grain growing farmlands of the Western Downs, is known for its horse sports. There is a popular rodeo held here each June.
The town is well worth a look and is a great place to stop on your journey for a stretch and rest. Chat to the locals (there are only around 45 of them!) or stop in for an old fashioned counter meal at the Coronation Hotel. You can also pick up supplies at the general store....
